Rockwood Recreational
Facility Swim Team
The mission of the Rockwood Recreational Facility swim team program
is to provide a fun and instructional atmosphere for developing the
swimming skills of swimmers of all levels. In addition to practices
and meets, swim team members and families participate in a number
of special social events including movie and bowling afternoons,
special pre-meet dinners, and parent-child fun competitions. Participation
in the swim team program provides an avenue for developing both swimming
skills and friendships.
Team practice and competition is composed of boys’ and girls’ groups
divided by age: Junior Division is comprised of 8 & Under and 9 &10;
Senior Division is comprised of 11 &12, 13 &14, and 15-18.
Events include both individual events and team relays. A series of
preliminary meets, usually held on Wednesday evenings or Saturday
mornings in June and early July, culminate in the Championship Meets,
generally held in mid to late July. The Rockwood Swim Team participates
in the Greater Wichita Swim League.
Swim team practices are scheduled by age group, and are Monday through
Friday mornings starting after Memorial Day.

Participation on the Rockwood Swim Team is open to children of member families.
A nominal charge is assessed to cover participation expenses. In addition, purchase
of a team swimsuit is recommended.
It takes many adult volunteers to assist with hosting home meets. Parents are
encouraged to sign up for the function that best suits their interests and talents.
Needs include timers, starters, announcer, stroke judges, clerk of the course,
bullpen, runners, concessions, and ribbons. Please contact Danielle at 685-3231
